This is one of our favorite loops. It starts at the Lake Skannatati parking lot and goes around the lake. If you’re like us you’ll want to bring a fishing rod because the trail takes you to some good fishing spots. When you get to the trailhead you can go right to the Red Cross Trail (Red Blaze) or left to the Long Path (Aqua Blaze). Lake Skannatati and Island Pond Loop is a 8.4 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Harriman, New York that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips and is best used from March until December. Lake Skannatati Long Path to Lichen to Ramapo Dunderburg Loop is a 4.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Tuxedo Park, New York that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate.

We hiked this loop counterclockwise from the Lake Skannatati Parking area, beginning on the Long Path and ending with the Arden-Surebridge Trail. This section starts at the fishing access parking lot off of Seven Lakes Drive at Lake Skannatati, about 0.75 mile north of Kanawauke Circle. From the Palisades Interstate Parkway, take Exit 15, go west on Gate Hill Road and Rockland County Route 106 to Kanawauke Circle, and then go north for 0.75 mile on Seven Lakes Drive.
